Hello my name is Juan Panduro and I hope that whoever is taking the time to read this is making the choice to listen because it’s important to try and understand the opinions of everyone else. It’s no secret that humanity has the tendency to treat others without the respect that they wish to have in themselves and this is due to a number of reasons that don’t always make sense. Similarly in many ways, women are not always treated fairy to what society says that is right or wrong because in the moment, people don’t always do what’s right. In the beginning of any society, their leaders make rules and patterns to how and why people should live their lives accordingly but that doesn't mean that those rules will always be fair to everyone and that’s how inequality is created, by the flaws of men that still have prominent control over all of us today. These days, humanity tends to pretend that the more we posses of material objects the better we are but sometimes that very idea destroys its boundaries and makes us all believe that people’s lives and rights have a price.

In our society we get most of our information from the news media that people make by gathering it from all the regions of the world and normally we believe them, but what happens when you read the media that people make especially for you? then we all just can’t seem to get enough of it. This method of luring the reader with media that connects to them is not new, many famous writers have used it to sell their ideas to the public of their day but today its used to move and control nations due to the fact that they make a world where we all live in. Now a day’s many women face the truth that many of us don’t always pay attention to and its all to the fact that inequality is still present in our society and doesn't seem to disappear. In some places around the world it is a custom to pay women less money for doing the same job that men do while in the other nations like in Saudi Arabia they tend to force their women to cover their faces because no men outside the family may see them and if they do they are punished severely. There are more similar acts around the world but these two surprised me the most mostly because the employers who hired women usually find excuses and loop holes to pay them less that the average man and for that they work twice as hard to follow the ladder in the world. Some of the society’s in the middle east tend to follow their extreme belief of women because it’s a custom that’s been followed for many generations and that is the biggest reason why its very difficult for women to move forward, their current customs are still in the past.

My family comes from rural town in Mexico and we all have different views on our equality around the family that contemplates how we treat each other. In my family we have the custom of letter the girls and women to choose what they want in life and we never disregard their dreams and hopes respectably. Despite our way of thinking, my family knows indeed that it’s not always in that manner because life tends to work in mysteries ways for everybody and turn us in different directions. Sometimes in life we are handed out a choice that makes us give up what we work very hard to get and this goes out for everyone not just women because it’s hard to see it coming. My family knows that those facts and therefore some women in my family have had to make important sacrifices in their lives to give and help others in the situation of our family in this modern society. The way that things are now, my family tries to keep a balance in their lives so that they keep doing what is most important to them and try to complete what they believe to be their cause in life.

In our community we all see that nobody is completely innocent for something and that the equality doesn't always match the way we all coexist with each other. We like to think of ourselves as having a place to belong in our society and how they can never take that away from you but nobody thinks that sometimes those positions don’t always stand right in time. I’m saying that people don’t always react well to change and progress because they are threatening to destroy the comfort zone that many people tend to make in their lives. These actions affect women because if we look back 100 years in our history, women weren't allowed to have the same education as men due to the common believe at the time. Now a day’s women have more freedom but they are secluded in different and more modern ways than 100 years ago. The media is very powerful and with it the wrong message about our society can spread to the point were many people start to believe that is normal to treat women with less respect just because a famous person can do it on television.

Caring about the topic of equality amongst women is important and honorable because if we start respecting people with intellect instead of emotion we would all be more open minded with the results that almost anybody can make for the better. When a person does the right thing, they show an example to others and prove them and themselves that even against all odds, equality is reachable within us all. Many writers such as Jean Kilbourne who is active in women movements have shown how today’s society presents negative facts about women and how its spread without a care in the world. She states: “it is hard for girls not to learn self-hatred in an environment in which there is such widespread and open contempt for women and girls” (596). The damage that can be cause for all this bad information takes long period of time to fix but Kilbourne wants to first open the eyes of the public to the reality that is the “MEDIA.”

Today it’s not very difficult to display information in the world, with the invention of the internet, phones and television people can simply read anything they want at the time of their choosing. However, this doesn't mean that it’s always going to be a good thing because humanity is very impressionable sometimes and leads to having problems with some minorities in society. Men and women aren't always equal even if we are from the same species but that doesn't mean that we have to like it, the idea of inequality is always there but it’s up to people to decide what’s right for their them and society.

The United States is was founded as a free country but slavery and segregation were active for the majority of its infancy until the 20^th century were the freedom movements open the eyes of many Americans into seeing the cold truth. Now in the 21^st century, segregation still exist but not as the one before since many people forget that our new segregation is more devious that unfair. To all the distribution of advertisement by their industries, as Kilbourne has stated that in today’s world many women are portrayed more like porn stars and they are being pushed to pursue more dead end jobs that intellectual carriers which benefits society. Other countries catch on to this allusive system of oppression and the problem only escalates in the world. What is normal today can be different in the future since our opinions change over time but to truly make a difference with the way the opinions we all posses, it clear that society needs to rethink their view of his citizens.

What we all view as normal doesn't always seem to be due to the fact that impression is everything with today’s advertisement industry which leads all of us in a state of insecurity. When the wrong impression is shows, people will most likely try to mimic it if the whole world tells them to and in this case the world has become the media that we can’t seem to get away from.  It’s important to show other people that you aren’t ruled by what other people think of you, judging only by outside appearance and being aware that there is a solution to every problem, it’s just that some problems required the attention of an entire nation to be fixed. All women in the world deserve equality because they are the ones who ensure the continuity of mankind for which we should all be thankful for. If we all treated women as equal as possible there can be more order in our society and many changes can be achieved over time. I am a person who jus wished to be normal in society, but it’s just not fair to see that people are mistreated because of their gender and seeing how much potential for the human race is wasted to the wind. If drastic actions are required for this, so be it but I would like to know that the message of equality for all is alive and well in the people who read this.

This book was publish in 1999 by Simon and Schuster Inc and it was written by Jean Kilbourne where she presents many topics that represent how women are treated and viewed as in the 21th century. One such topic in the book is called "Two way a woman can get hurt" were many facts and complains come to fruition with real examples that show just how shallow the advertisement industry can get. Many speculation do come to light as Kilbourne expresses her ideas as to how the portrayal of many people changes constantly and not in a very accurate manner. There' s many spectacles about what is our suppose place in society and how we should act in it too which leads many readers to think about their daily lives and see that some of this facts are well implanted in their lives. Men and children are being portrayed sexually as well, since the market for this field has increased rapidly and many people are beginning to think that it now the new normal. Now a days, many people believe that if its being depicted on the media it's normal but that's not the case anymore.

The website describes how many of the Untied States and other nations tend to treat women differently for their own reasons. They dispute on how the equality is never the same despite if the country has laws that enforce the idea of equality and fairness among s its people. Many of the people in this United Nations meeting are supposed to make better examples of how they plan to treat and manage the problem of inequality among s their country and how will they change for the better. For the most part, the meeting left many questions that were left unanswered for and many people still wish for another meeting were their results are going to be public.

Formal Paper # 2

The first thing there is to know about the habits of equality among any society is that sometimes we don't always tend to honor it. This rule also applies to the many women who have been keep in the idea that men always have the last say in many societies. Apart from the constant view of ourselves with glorifying eyes at easy our mistakes, it takes more guts to describe what we really have in ourselves that to say we are normal the way we are. Many people can see this circumstances in plain site but sometimes they choose to let things be because they are afraid that other people will think less of them in their community. Many writers who choose to talk and investigate this cases do it with an open mind and their capable of bringing the facts ts right to our door steps but unfortunately we don't always listen right away.Its something of a moderate interest in human nature to simply pay attention on what we all view as important to us. Whats more questionable about any of this situations is how do we all just keep on thing that somebody will just come along and help himself into fixing the problem that nobody wants to pay attention to as their lives are busy enough. I believe that people have to honor the so called authority that we surround ourselves with at any occasion because it suppose to keep us safe from the people around us and from ourselves in many ways than one and to be more concern about keeping morality from fiction apart. What is more likely to happen in the fight between fairness for us all is that  no one really puts an effort unless they have something to gain or loose in their lives. As human beings, we tend to cling on the things that will give us something in return for better survival and better ways of living. In my effort to have an understanding of equality among s anybody, it difficult but at the same time interesting since I can take an entire lifetime of research and still no be able to figure anything out because in our human nature, we can't help it to be  very unpredictable. 

Ra# 3 From Fly girls to bitches and hoes

In the essay "From Fly-girls to Bitches and Hoes" by Joan Morgan, explores the reality and prejudice that many African american women are being portrayed as in the African American culture of the modern era. This article is one that tries to give a distinct message because it shows both sides to why and how women came to be represented in the hip hop industry and their opinion to this day. Music can have a verity of purposes and reasons to be created by many artist, in this case the hip hop genre expresses the life and ideas of many of their artist and they also describe many hardships that have been experienced in the past. The author herself states that hip hop is the way of expressing the many harsh experiences that have led them to express themselves in the manner tat we all see in this type of music and way of life.

The way women have been portrayed in any culture has been always up to them weather to say what is right and wrong to their way of thinking and the author of the essay describes the rap culture as a way to exploit their ideas and give a message of hate that people don't always understand that is wrong. Upon more of the reading, its clear that the hi hop genre wasn't always what it is today and only over time it transform into the popular music that many people wish to mimic despite having a very intriguing message of  values. The author herself is a fan of the music and she tries to comprehend why are women being portrayed by as less than human by the famous musicians such as Notorious B.I.G and Dr.Dre despite being the same color of skin. In all we are supposed to ask ourselves if the music that we like so much giving you the wrong message, why do we keep listening to it? and if t gives you the wrong idea on how to treat your fellow men aren't we just as guilty for not dong anything about it.

I do believe that the hip hop music has a lot to answer for how they have portrayed women over the course of their work but that gives me a reason to think that maybe all their music gives a window to what they believe in and what they have gone thought but our ways of thinking have to be clear in what we think is the right thing to in this situation. The speculation that people can make wit each other about any subject is just another way of life that many follow but the author of this essay wants to demonstrate a point in this manner because she belies that its the right thing to do for all the women in the world and add concern at the same time.    

RA 2 ways a woman can get hurt.

The advertizement in our society becomes more complex every day and people can't keep up with the message that's intending to spread and so people can get the wrong idea or do they?. The reading  two ways a women can get hurt  it told as a descriptions of whats hidden in the advertisement themes you see every day and make people do the subliminal actions that's what's really being sold around. Exemplification is also very involved in the reading since there's more than 20 images which are consider regular advertisement tools, but we are given real and probable reasons on why the sexism in this pictures are attracting  more speculations then costumers. There is meaning in the words of the the writer since over the past 20 years, theirs been a rice of young kids who've become more sexual oriented due to the ideas that you are not perfect unless society says that you are to which most of us just lay low and accept this way of life. It's actually very common for our species to do so, since its in our genes to always try and blend in with our fellow men most will go to any extent to do so because nobody whats to get the tile of an outsider. The term outsider is a powerful term in our society for the most part of being secluded from people just because of any difference that someone believes or body traits. All  the facts and opinions in this story are set to make us see what we are capable of when we don't regulate our choices and never think further than ourselves which leaves much room for error for those who looked regularly for someone else opinion. With all the evidence show by people like Jean Kilbourne, the author of this paper you would think that people will react  to it but the truth is that they don't because this is not the only problem that society faces, in fact we are dealing with more life treating matters that talking about how women can get hurt doesn't seem as a major problem but its a problem non the less and and it people will need to pay more attention to it when the solution is actually needed and obtainable. Apart form this subject, what we need to see is that every problem began with the need to keep moving forward just like with our society that doesn't always learn from its mistakes but tries its bets to keep us in line and from harming each other. A woman has the power to become anything she wishes to be, the only problem is that the society she lives in might have different ways of thinking that only view them as less than a men. That's why we need to recognize ourselves as equals to our own ayes and see that with this type of thinking we are not so different if at all.                   

RR#2 Kilbourne

The idea that women and men are treated equally is a topic that has been debated for many thousands of years and we still don't have the answer for it. In the following reading by Jean Kilbourne called "Two ways a woman can get hurt", talks about how many topics that describe women are treated and viewed upon is described and it gives much back story on how we choose to see it fit. Since advertisements are used on just about everything these days, people see that there are no limits on what message people can spread with a single idea and how will other can react to them. There are examples in the reading on how advertisement posters send the wrong message despite that they were intended to give completely different topics to the public and that's because are free to have their own opinions. The whole idea of the reading is diverse since the world we live in is run at different speeds that people are accustomed to and since people have can think whatever they like, its easy to make up just about anything. What we do with our ideas is ether spread them or keep them to ourselves but people who work in the media business need to cope up with ideas all the time so they get desperate and make mistakes. Upon the examples shown in the reading, its clear that there is something to look at because most of the examples show that sexuality in our modern era is shown to have no limits and over time, any idea that seems wrong and not right can become normal in the future. I'ts  important to try and make some type of decision whether whats important to show in our regular propaganda because we never know who might be reading it and feel different about it. Since we live in a country that allows the freedom of the press and media, the rights and wrongs keep changing constantly and we all have to be responsible to except what we want to read in the paper and see in the street billboards every morning.

What people never seem to envision in their live is how they will fix the problems that people face every day. Most of us just think that something will come up and that all will be better in the end, but that’s only because our hopes and attitudes go way beyond our capability of reason. In the present day, the United States of America is having financial crisis with its own states and it’s caused for many sacrifices that each governor of their own states has hade to make in the past four years. In our local state of California, many people have felt and suffer the recession that we have all felt and its many also don’t always have the answer to give to their fellow friends about what should be done about the fiasco. The biggest trouble that California s facing because of the recession is all the tax cuts that its done about their entire school system and how many students are getting to the point of leaving school all together because of the conditions that the school system is providing to all their students.

Since the new voters elections are set to take place in November of 2012, there have been a total of 11 new propositions that can help the economy in a matter of what’s best for all of California. One of those propositions is proposition 30 and for the majority of the residents in California expect for it to make their lives a little more easier tat what it is today. The proposition works in a very tolerable way for most people because it puts in motion many stages that stimulate the school system. First they increase the sales tax rate by one- quarter cent for every dollar in four years. It also increases the rates of personal income taxes to the upper class or people who make 250,000 dollars or more for seven years.  If this is approved by the state, there’s a total profit of at least six billion dollars in additional state revenue to help the many systems and programs who are in dire need of help. What is interesting is that despite being safe for some, others don’t have a liking to this proposition and are in light turmoil about it.

The proposition can really help out people who aren’t doing well in this economy because it’s very difficult to find a suitable job if people don’t have the right education for the job that they desire the most. Because many times people tend to stop doing something that they loose hope on, this proposition is meant to help and put back the trust on the school that appears to be not doing very well in the past 4 years. In order to have a good middle class, education is always going to be the solution that is needed to keep them strong to begin with since it of most importance for any society to have a strong middle class to be kept stable and in balance. What people think of education is up to debate because people have the right to their free opinions and beliefs, that’s why proposition 30 is put most of the six billion dollars that can generate if its passed on the school system of California  for the benefit of the people who know that education is important in their life.

Some people aren’t so sure if proposition 30 will work on helping the less unfortunate of the California crisis  because many have come up with theories and doubts that make  people think twice about it. Since there really is no insurance on the fact that all the money from the raised taxis will go to the school system, many people aren’t so sure to vote for it and are looking away from it to other propositions. Jerry Brown has promised make sure that all the money goes to the school system but some say that he just what’s to have the image of a savior and that he will use the money in other systems that aren’t so very important at the moment. Their points of view are important because with the criticism that this proposition receives, the state can gives us the answers by seeing how our need can be analyzed to better explain it to the fellow citizens of California.

As a college student and a middle class citizen, I tend to be a supported of proposition 30 because it gives me a since of relive to kwon that my education whom be degraded because the state cant pay the bills to keep it open for me to receive the education that has taken me years to obtain. I was taught to value what I have in life and many people have told me that education is the most important tool in life and so far their right. Everywhere I go, I see the facts that happen each day because its hard to turn your back at the world the way it is and nobody really needs to because to move forward its important to be educated enough to make it anyway you can. I can appeal to many people in my position as a student to many other people and see that I’m not alone and that they think like I do because this government is supposed to help us in any way possible and we have rights to follow our desired carries and find a way to do so.

Just like any other proposition that the government cooks up every year, proposition 30 is meant to help people in their problems that are currently happening in the state of California. Since many states are suffering because of the recent rescission that started no more that 4 years ago, many people aren't doing so well economically and they try to go by as best as possible. Due to this circumstances, the state of California has had to take the initiative of cutting many programs on a number of  levels from education and health departments to the penal system and  work system alike. What bothers many people, is that the school system is the most affected from all this crisis and and each year more and more students from high school to college seem to be indifferent about their education and are dropping out because if their school system aren't taking their job seriously, why should they?. This is exactly what proposition 30 whats to fix and they plan to do so by raising personal income taxes for 7 years to people who make over 250,000 dollars a year or more and by raising sales taxes to 1/4 cent for at least 4 years. All this claims seem to be a great salvation for people in the middle class of our society who don't have much to contribute because of their state of living. Being in middle class myself, I can't even imagine what will the Upper class will do about it, since nobody likes to have their money taken away by the government, many of the rich living in California will more likely vote against proposition 30 but since they only compose about 1% of society they will have trouble in doing so. When people invest in a project, they want results and that's what proposition 30 is doing for the middle class in California and promises to make our lives a little easy in one way or another at the expense of others who have the means of money. Someway or another, People have to make choices that feel right to get things done an Jerry Brown is performing that situation with the new proposition that makes an effort to a good cause. To be  fair, this law can be very helpful to me since I'm one of many college student and many of the cuts that have been implemented to our school system have been bothering me for some time. When the school system that many people depend on its failing, its important to do something about it because education is a serious matter if people want success in their life. I do believe that we can do better once this proposition is in place and so do other people, that's why people are getting ready to do everything in their power to put pressure on Jerry Brown so that he can live up to the promise that hes making whit this new propoition that will help many teachers and students take things seriously again.

The article speaks of the speculations and consequences that people are thinking about proposition 30 in California. The proposition is supposed to elevate the income taxes to people with an annul income of 250,000 dollars for a total of seven years only for the purpose of supporting public programs and aiding our school system. With an estimated sum of 6 billion dollars in profit, people will are insinuation that Jerry Brown s doing everything in his power to make this reform possible and has made many occasional tours around the school in California to  show that the school system needs help. Another viewpoint of governor brown is that if proposition 30 isn't approved, there's gong to be more cuts on the Californian economy that will lead us further in dept. Critical Thinking

To further more into the reading, the first pages talk on how important critical thinking is as a learning ability and gives the reader some examples that they can use to practice and see how well they can perform with their current level of thinking. The view of myths are explained because they come from cultures that every person possesses and they explain how they can be used for academic works which leaves a student with the proper intellect that there searching for. There are however, different opinions that students have with cultural myths and believes and that why we question them to achieve and understanding between both thinking's and ideas. the idea of our personal ideals is talked about in the reading and they say on how our identities have so much to do in our work because we tend to write about our own beliefs in our own works. Our way of dialogue and visual thinking is also important because to express properly our way of thinking and and to have our own idea about the work of other people. The reading context acts like directions to understanding  the reading that students will be facing in many of their college courses and how will their opinion about different subjects will be tested by many people. To understand subjects that some never even knew they existed, the reading speaks on how its important to recognize the issues and viewpoints of every reading that is made on the topics. Apart from our viewpoints, we must also view ourselves as people with the interest to learn from the topics of other peoples work and to understand their point of view to an extent degree that you feel safe with. In my opinion, to be a good student is to keep an open mind about many ideas that come from many myths and cultures and so to excel in reading materials is to really just keep an open mind. No other species in the planet has the intellect that we have and there's no point of just focusing our potential in only one way of thinking. Why is it that we have the freedom to think without borders? if you deny yourself that gift, then whats the point of even creating your own ideals about yous studies.

Week One

The poem "Para Teresa" is a story that explains how people of a different culture tries to manage and coexist in a new country that doesn't have the best of intentions for them. I'm referring to how many immigrants came to the Unite States and found that it wasn't always easy for the grown-ups because their culture was a difficult thing to change for a new one. Their children however, manage to relate more easily to the new way of life in the Americas and that lead to many new ways and views  of life that continue in the decedents of immigrants till this day. However, not all of the children's immigrants manage to get positive views of the so called american dream in their day and that got people angry enough to spread hatred in peoples mind. The poem is about Hispanic children who have different believes on how should they behave with teacher who don't treat them as equal and these students don't always have the right idea of defiance. The author tells the poem in both English and Spanish, I believe she does so in order to try and make the reader understand the struggle that she lived because both the teachers and students were against her in their own way. It also can explain the small amount of doubt that she had about making something of herself in the society that she was living in  because on times they force you pick between English and Spanish and not the both of them. Since the author is not a child by the time that she writes the poem, many of her ideologies change and she now views the world in a different way. The author was being rebellious by trying to achieve higher education and not to follow the typical path that many Hispanic people had of hard labor. However, Teresa being the person that rebels by giving disrespect and bulling other people can understand why somebody like herself doesn't do the same and instead gives in to the teachers. By thinking like an adult about the memories that she has about Teresa in her youth, she can she that it was her ways of expressing the many floads that people hade in those different times. Now she can understand a different view of other people and try think more equally about the people in her life.all there was in the poem was difference between people and now, all that was needed was the understanding between each other because that counts for so much.  

    

I am

I am a person that has many interest in life but not always the right ideas to execute them properly. From such experiences that come to the top of my head , I've been very quick to pick up on an opportunity that nobody seem to take seriously even if its clear to me that it won't work in the end. Real opportunities are rare these days  and sometimes you need to to take risks to get what you want most in life. To be clear, I am an opportunist and that's not always a bad thing, for all we do is rise up to the moment when we can get something good out of even the worst possible situation we're in. This is also the optimism that's in my character and he likes to come out mostly when I'm in some type of work or of I have a very important objective in mind. I believe that to get the best work possible, there need to be some type of balance that allows any individual to finish its work without much stress involved because if people do their job angry or in distress, in other future projects in their career the quality of that work will diminish. I picked up many ideas from many different people and experiences, all just for the goal of reaching whatever makes me happy in life. I'm good at the following themes, bike riding on difficult terrain, perfect attendance when people depend on me, any sport that requires me to exercise and also to work on the position of any team that requires my best at all times. I cant really say if these are skill or not but its what I can bring to the table on the days that my classes take place for most of the time. Technology is important too in this modern era and my skills on computers aren't so bad because I can do basic skills such as typing and research but i can't do power points or programs so I'm more of an average computer person. In a team you need to be able to have the necessary skills to finish your work and its true, but you also need to have the right attitude and responsibility to even consider what your doing work because people don't like to work with people who are immature.That's a fact that I learned from all my experiences so far.
